I’m pretty sure that almost youngsters like us all have
days in which we are running out of money and must have a plan to eat as
cheap as possible. Don’t be sad about it, even when you just have a
near-empty wallet, you can always find something delicious to eat here
in Hanoi.
There are many kinds of Hanoi street foods with price range just from 7,000 to 15,000 VND:
Tofu
Such a light and cool treat for your
summer days. It takes you only 7,000 VND to get a bowl full of bean
curd, brown sugar syrup, black or green jelly and dried coconut. There
are many kinds of toppings for you to add on, such as tapioca or sago
pearls, egg caramel pudding, dried longan, etc. Of course, you have to
pay more for these toppings but it’s still cheap. Nghia Tan and Bach Mai
Streets are my recommended places for cheap and tasty Tofu.

attractionPork Rib Porridge and Clam Rice Porridge
Indispensable treats for every afternoon in Hanoi. Bach Khoa area is the best place for these dishes
with the price of only 7,000 for a bowl of Pork Rib Porridge or Clam
Rice Porridge, not including crullers. The sweet and fatty flavor from
pork rib or clam combined with crunchy crullers makes the porridge
tastier. So, enjoy your meal with just 10,000 VND.
Pyramidal Rice Dumpling (Banh gio)
A simple but healthy dish for you to
enjoy at any time of day. It can be your breakfast, your lunch or your
dinner. This dumpling is made from several ingredients including plain
rice flour, minced lean meat, onion and mushroom. Adding some chili
sauce and sour vegetable pickles can make it tastier, the special smell
of phrynium or banana leaf is also good. Hom market and Thuy Khue Street
are 2 favorite places to have Banh gio with only 10,000 or 12,000 VND.
